What hurts the most
Authors note: This carries on from the previous chapter, so if you haven't read that first, it's probably best that you do! Happy reading- Ash :D
Three hours later...
Syed, Christian and a small group of their friends had begun to ring round the local residents, asking them if they knew of the new-born or knew who he or she belonged to.
After spending some time waiting for anyone to ring to claim the infant, no one called.
Christian then spotted a note to the side of the Moses basket, and was quick to read it.
To whom it may concern,
Please look after my son. I can't look after him myself, i tried and tried and i just can't manage or cope.
His name is Henry. He's six pounds five ounces and 21 inches long. He's healthy as far as i know.
Please give him a good life.
Sincerely,
R.
A tear rolled down Christian's cheek as he handed the note to Syed. He couldn't even begin to imagine what must've been going through that poor woman's head to make her abandon her son.
Syed gasped and took a hold of Christian's hand, the note falling to the floor.
They deliberated for a while on what was best, and so they decided to hand the baby over to social services. This was completely out of their hands, and they knew that as much as their hearts wanted to keep Henry, he deserved his best chance at life.
They rang round some of the local social services, and several denied taking Henry as they were either too full or didn't have the facilities to cope with such a young baby.
So, it fell to them.
Although social services could not do anything currently, they did give them temporary guardianship over Henry.
