Making changes

"Morning!" Syed said as he rushed into the kitchen.

"Morning." Christian said softly as he spooned some porridge into Matilda's mouth.

"Have you had a chance to look at the papers?" Syed asked as he sat down beside Christian.

"Not yet. Why?" Christian replied.

"We need to get a bigger place. What with Matilda getting older and Yasmin needing more room for her equipment when she arrives home, living in a flat with stairs isn't practical." Syed said as Christian nodded.

"I suppose you're right. It's just this place... It's where it all began. It's where you brought Yasmin home, where Tilly was brought up. There's so many memories here." Christian nodded.

"I know, but it’s time. We could have a house with a garden. Can you imagine Tilly running around in the summer? Yasmin learning to walk again in the garden?” Syed said as Christian nodded.

"Future children playing in the garden, going on long walks and breathing clean air. This house isn't enough for us anymore. It's holding us back. And we need to let go." Syed continued as Christian nodded emotionally.

"I know. Just so much has happened here. I'm not ready for this to be the end." Christian said as he wiped away his tears.

"It's not an end. It'll never be an end, just a new beginning." Syed said as he crouched down beside Christian and held on tightly to his hand.

"We need to do this. This isn't our home anymore. Too much has happened here and Yasmin's accident proves that." Syed finished as Christian nodded.

"You're right. It's time to move on." Christian agreed.

As much as the flat was their home, they'd outgrown it. Having stairs to climb up would be impractical for Yasmin when she is home. And the girls share a bedroom.

They both deserve separate rooms as they grow up.

"So it's official. We're leaving." Syed smiled as Christian grinned.

"I guess we are!"
