When the going gets tough.
First of all I want to offer my sincere apoligies for just abandoning this story. It wasn't intended but things got in the way and before I knew it , it had been 5 months since I had posted a chapter. I hope you can accept my apoligies and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
"Morning Yas." Christian says as he entered her room. It had been 24 hours since he had made the heart wrenching decision to give up Matilda. 48 hours since their lives had changed forever.
"How is she?" he asks a nurse who was writing down her stats. "She's doing well, her bp is stable and she hasn't had any more seizures which is a positive sign. For now its just about waiting, she could wake up now or not for another three weeks. It's her bodies choice. I know it's hard but as a parent, all you can do is pray and wait." she tells him and he nods, tears falling once more.
"Have you heard anything about my husband Syed? Syed Clark?" he asks and she shakes her head. "I'll ask and get back to you okay?" she says in reply and he smiles in return.
"Oh Yas. If only you could see me right now. You need to get better , I-I-if you don't I don't know how me and your daddy will cope. Tilly needs her big sister , you need to stay strong and fight this. I know you're in there, keep holding on baby girl. " he says and he takes hold of her hand.
All of this is so draining. He just wants his family back together. Why is that so much to ask? Both Syed and Yasmin are in Intensive Care. Syed had a tear to his kidney and it's unknown when they'll try and wake him up and Yasmin, Yasmin is fighting for her right to live.
"Nurse?" he says as he leaves the room for a moment. "Yes?" the nurse who is looking after Yasmin says. "Is it possible that Yasmin could- could-could have brain damage?" he asks, pain and anguish etched on his face.
"Yes. It's possible . Yasmin was in a car accident where she impacted with the front seat which caused the seizure. Until she wakes up it's unknown how much damage , if any was caused and the impacts of it. I'm sorry it's not better news." She tells him and he nods before running off.
He gets a bus back to Walford and decides to pack most of Matilda's things away. He packs a majority of her clothes up and her toys, including her Elmo cuddle toy. She couldn't bare to be without it , so bizarrely he wonders how Stacey had been coping.
Once he had finished packing, he went over to Stacey's . "Christian?" she says as she opens the door with a tired Matilda in her arms .
"Here's most of her toys, clothes, nappies and everything else." he tells her and she shakes her head. "We won't need it." she tells him and he looks at her with a puzzled expression on his face.
"We're not having her. You are. You're her father Christian, you and Syed are all she has known for the last 9 months. What would Syed say if he found out that you were doing this? " She tells him and he shakes his head. "I can't cope! Seeing them in there is tearing me apart! I feel so useless!" he says as he starts to cry.
"Oh come here..." she says as she pulls him into a hug and rubs his back comfortingly. "Now you are going to stay here until you feel you can cope. You need people around you that understand. Now you are going to take your daughter to see her father. Understood?" she tells him and he chuckles before nodding and holding her arms out.
An hour later and he finally arrives back at the hospital with an excited Matilda in tow.
"Hello Sy, I've brought Matilda to see you. She's missed you , as have I. You need to get better . We need you." he mumbles as Matilda leans over and places a kiss on her fathers forehead.
Suddenly his machines start to beep, alerting the nurses that something isn't right.
"Nurse? Nurse!"
